ZOA
Zone of Authority is:
1) the area of authority the Name Server has for the zones that are loaded in its’ programs.
2) refers to anything that is within a registrant’s SLD zone of which the registrant has complete authority over.
zone
1) a record of multiple resource records on a Domain Name server as part of the DNS that holds the name to IP translators. This record is also known as a zone registry.
2) a subunit of a domain in the domain name space. Each unit (or subset of domains) is a zone.
3) It is a portion of the domain name space that is served by a NS. It may include a domain and its respective subdomains, or a portion of a domain.

zone file
is a record of a domain containing the DNS resource records, including all the information necessary for the translation of a domain name into an IP address, for a name servers’ area of authority. Also known as a zone data file.
zone record

zone registry
is the authoritative record of a list of domains kept by the Registry office responsible for the maintaining of such DNS records.
zone slaves
see secondary master name servers.
zone transfer
the process of loading zone data over the network from another name server.
